Activities in the period 2016-2020

The County of Istria regularly carries out activities to raise the quality of amenities along the route and increase user safety. In cooperation with the towns and municipalities along Parenzana, we maintain the route, which includes mowing and cutting vegetation, trail filling and equipment repairs.

• 2 bicycle counters have been installed (Vižinada and Plovanija)
• continuation of the traffic study for installing traffic signs has been made
• equipment repairs (lookout, bike rack, trash can)

• the Freski tunnel has been illuminated by solar-powered lighting
• the underpass and the bridge near the tunnel of Sv. Vid have been repaired
• additional signposts have been installed (36 pcs)
• the "Parenzana - Bike Trail" project has been implemented (with co-financing from the Ministry of Tourism):
  1. A new rest area has been set up in Buje (table with benches, trash can, bike rack) and additional amenities: service station and Parenzana map board.
  2. 3 existing rest areas have been completed with the following:
     • Grožnjan - solar-powered bicycle counter, service station, rest chair and map board of Parenzana
     • Livade - solar-powered bicycle counter, service station, rest chair and map board of Parenzana
     • Poreč - service station and map board of Parenzana.

• tunnels Kostanjica and Kalcini have been illuminated by solar-powered lighting
• 10 notice boards on cycling on main roads have been put up
• 5 tire pumps have been purchased (for service stations)
• project entitled "Developing and Equipping the Parenzana Trail" has been implemented (with co-financing from the Ministry of Tourism):
  • 6 Wi-Fi hotspots have been put up at rest areas (free Wi-Fi) - Poreč, Vižinada, Rakotule, Livade, Antonci, Buje
  • vertical and horizontal traffic signals have been installed at 9 locations
  • 12 signposts have been put up
  • 7 stone mileposts with mileage markings
  • 3 boards with a map of Parenzana - Vižinada, Rakotule, Motovun

• a new lookout has been set up in Brkač
• a protective fence has been put up on the Grožnjan bridge and the overpass near Pirelići
• in cooperation with the company Hrvatske šume d.o.o. we have planted three trees at the rest areas along Parenzana (Brkač and Rakotule)
