In the wake of Parenzana
From the station in Valica to Buje the train was driving 33 minutes through the the barren plateau of the Istrian karst. Railway station in Buje was the most important in the whole Parenzana. It was the starting point for trains to Trieste and Poreč, with large beam transit and stopping tracks. There were remittance, storage for spare locomotives and workshops for revision of locomotives and wagons. In Buje, there was also the headquarters staff in charge of maintaining the entire line. During the ten-minute break, the strong locomotive type P was replaced to weaker but more agile locomotive type U, suitable for mastering the many sharp bends on the way to Porec. If we were now traveling with the old railway, durring the pause we were going to rest in the small station buffet, while our train hurriedly is changing locomotive and staff.
The route from Valica to Buje leads first through the notch along the road, then there are cuts on several places and there is a Buje embankment through cultivated fields.
The big building were used to be the station in Buje is well preserved, and today is a residential building. The rails at the time were passing from the back side of the building.
At the station in Markovac there was the eave for travelers, and in Kaldanija only spanel with the name of the station and the pole with a lamp. Today the traces of any of these two stations are not visible.
