Recreational cycling race organized for the occasion of Parenzana opening

Dear sport friends,

Come and join the real biking fans - to participate in the opening of cycling race for the occasion of Parenzana opening, which will be held on 26th and 27th of November 2011 and will be passing through Parenzana route by Slovenian and Croatian part of Istria.

SATURDAY, 26.11.2011.

On Saturday, the meeting point will be in Lucia (nearby Portorož in Slovenia) at 9.00 am, at the macadam parking lot by marina, where the cycling race starts at 10.00 am. It is strongly suggested wearing your own bike lights to the tunnel without lights. The trail leads us across the border into Croatia, all the way to Buje, where at the parking lot in front of the train station, the hosts will welcome You with refreshments. After the break, we return the same route back to Lucia, where the conclusion of the first day will happen, including lunch for all participants. The project Parenzana II will also be presented.

SUNDAY, 27.11.2011.

On Sunday, the meeting point is scheduled at 9:00 am, again at the parking lot at the train station in Buje, where the start is scheduled at 10.00 am at the Parenzana route. First refreshments along the route will be in Grožnjan, including the sightseeing tour of the beautiful little town. Afterwards we continue up to a very attractive section to Livade, where we will visit the Parenzana museum and refresh before the ascent to Motovun.

Upon arrival to Vižinada, we will take a look at the locomotive model, refresh and continue to renewed section of Parenzana towards Poreč. End of the race will be in Poreč, at the Peškera, near the last official stop of the former Parenzana. During lunch (which will begin around 15.00 pm), there will be a few words about the project, and we will be happy to hear about your thoughts.

The return to Buje is organized by buses (for participants) and trucks (for bicycles).

In addition to the many refreshments, the participants will receive a gift and a suitable souvenir, and a good time is guaranteed!

REGISTRATION

For all those who plan to participate in cycling race, we kindly ask you to apply via our online application form, to help us plan the exact number of participants. Link to the application form can be found here.

For those who want to give up earlier, there will be bus transportation from Livade (after about 30 km drive) to Buje and Porec. If it is possible, announce that before the start so that we can plan transportation.

People from the organizer's staff will be present at all important spots. Nonetheless, we invite participants to respect road rules, particularly at the crossroads, routes crossing main roads and in all other more dangerous places. It is advisable to have your own lightning when you pass through numerous tunnels without illumination. However, the tunnels are passable even without the light, but you have to be extra caution.

All participants participate at their own risk. The organizer is not responsible for any damage caused to third parties.

For all participants who wish to stay overnight near the cycling race from Saturday to Sunday, we suggest that you contact our Bike & Bed accommodation facilities.
